Within the framework of implementation of the Regional Components of the CAMP4ASB Project, monitoring field visits, to evaluate sub-projects (loans) issued within the national component of the CAMP4ASB Project in the Republic of Tajikistan, have taken place on November 8-9, 2017.
Representatives of the Project Regional Coordination Unit, as well as loan specialists and environmental experts from the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, have participated in the field visits.
During the monitoring field visits, in addition to the climate evaluation of sub-projects (loans), monitoring specialists from the Project Regional and National Coordination Units verified overall sub-projects' data, discussed social issues with Borrowers and explained the use of the Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM).
Field visits were organized in Tursunzade, Vakhdat and Faizabad, monitoring sites for plant growing, energy saving and energy efficiency have been inspected.
Thus, farmers implementing sub-projects in Tursunzade (those, received loans) are private entrepreneurs and are engaged in plant growing for 8-15 years, respectively.
One of the farmers, who received the loan, built a greenhouse and grows cucumbers. He planted seeds in June and had his first crop in August. By November he has produced approximately 5 tons of crops and plans to produce more until the end of December.
The second farmer is a private entrepreneur and has 2 greenhouses, where he grows flowers. Having received the loan, the farmer built a new greenhouse and repaired the old greenhouses.
In Faizabad the farmer has been engaged in plant growing for more than 10 years and has a very good experience in this field. Having 3,85 hectares of rainfed land, he plans to improve water supply for watering the garden and growing agricultural products using technologies of raising water upwards for sub-irrigation. Water supply will be carried out from the upper stream of the river.
In Vahdat, the sub-borrower is a private entrepreneur and has been engaged in plant growing for more than 5 years. The farmer has 1,5 hectares of irrigated land, received a loan to develop crop production for cultivation of onions and garlic, as well as to purchase organic fertilizers.
The sub-borrowers stated that their expectations from the received loans were met, all plan to continue with current activities and, if possible to expand it.
