Speakers of the Conference, part 4

Dear friends, we continue to tell you about the speakers who will speak at the Central Asian Conference on Climate Change.

FINANCE: Global sources and local financing mechanisms for climate change adaptation initiatives will be delivered by Gayane Minasyan, Lead Environmental Specialist, World Bank. Gayane has a graduate degree in Economics from Yerevan State University and MSc in Environmental Management and Police from Lund University in Sweden. Since 2002, Gayane has been working on WBG assignment East Asia and the Pacific, Europe and Central Asia regions, as well as projects on water resources management, forestry and natural resources, agriculture and rural development, pollution and climate change management. Today Gayane coordinates the World Bank's environment and climate program in Central Asia and Russia.



V-Novikov.jpgVictor Novikov has experience in international and national information, policy development and actions on climate change and other key environmental issues. Victor is a Project Manager, Physical Geographer and Climatologist at Zoï Environment Network. Within the framework of Session 5. INFORMATION SERVICES: communication and ways of disseminating information in the field of climate change, Victor prepared a report on "The specifics of preparing information products for policy makers". He is co-author of several widely cited publications and maps on climate change, including all Tajikistan's national climate change national communications and regional visual atlases on climate, biodiversity and pollution. Victor made a significant contribution to negotiations on the global climate process and regional dialogues, provided support to national teams and coaching for local NGOs on climate information management and visualization.



Neil Bird - photo.jpgNeil Bird, Senior Research Fellow at the Development Institute (ODI), will address the topic of analyzing climate finance for adaptation projects globally in Session 4. FINANCE: global sources and local financing mechanisms for climate change adaptation initiatives. The focus of his work is on climate change and development policy, international aid architecture and its relation to climate finance. Neil has led several multi-country studies that have examined climate change related public expenditure, as well as recent developments and trends in global climate finance.
