Environmental and climate student researchers from Central Asia trained on academic writing skills and scientific paper development stages

16 November 2018

15 winners of the Student research competition on sustainable management of natural resources in Central Asia and Afghanistan 2018-2019 gathered together in Almaty on October 8-11, 2018 for a training on academic writing techniques and workshops with their international supervisors.

The two-day side event was comprised of training on basics of academic and scientific writing, and presentation of the students’ thesis topics and methodologies. During the training on academic writing the students have learned the article preparation stages, ways how to describe a research work, how to formulate the article purpose, writing styles, and other basic requirements for thesis writing. Significant part of the training was dedicated to practical assignments. For this exercise the students were asked to prepare their thesis abstracts prior to the side-event. Such approach allowed students more effectively practice strengths and weaknesses of the writing process.
