The online conference on "Results of student research with in the contest on sustainable management of natural resources in Central Asia 2019-2020" ended successfully on the 11th of June 2020. The conference was attended by over 40 people, including students, teachers, and representatives of research institutes.
The online conference was held by the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC) in conjunction with the Kazakh-German University.
It was organized to present the research results of student winners of the Student research contest on sustainable natural resource management in Central Asia 2019-2020.
The competition has been held for the third year. It aims to create and develop conditions for young specialists by intensifying research activities, their participation in applied research, and providing opportunities for solving practical problems in the region's pilot territories.
The competition is a part of the implementation of the projects "Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Program for Aral Sea Basin Program (CAMP4ASB)," funded by the World Bank, and "Smart Waters", funded by USAID.
It provides opportunities for young scientists, students, international and regional experts, etc. to familiarize themselves with the results of research in the climate change field and share experiences on climate change issues.
• Familiarize all participants with the results of the scientific work of the student research contest.
• Conduct a discussion on climate change in Central Asia among participants.
• Students and young scientists in the field of climate change (bachelors, undergraduates, Ph.D.).
• Researchers and young climate change experts from Central Asia.
• All climate change stakeholders.
International experts shared their experience on innovative methods for assessing water resources and the impact of climate change in Central Asia; they spoke about the international experience in researching climate change and the impact of the pandemic on the research in the Central Asian region. They also touched upon the effects of the pandemic on the system of study abroad, as well as related problems and new opportunities.
Students-winners of the 2019-2020 competition from different countries of Central Asia presented the results of their research conducted as a part of the competition. Their topics directly or indirectly aimed to study climate change issues. Materials for familiarization were sent to all registered participants in advance - posters, on which the contest participants briefly and visually set out the main results of their research. Also, all the participants had the opportunity to ask questions of interest to all the speakers, as well as to the organizers during the conference.
You can find all the posters HERE, as well as on our website.
