South-South cooperation: opportunities for fighting climate change

South-South cooperation has existed since the mid-twentieth century. How can southern countries, including the countries of the Central Asian region, help each other today? There are already some examples of such cooperation. But there are also many questions, for example: who, what and why is investing in our region in the first place and what are the real benefits of these investments to our countries, especially in view of global challenges such as climate change.

Mr. Otto Simonett, from Zoi Environment Network, covers on the "One belt, one road" initiative, and provides specific examples on respective investments; what is the significance of this initiative in the context of achieving the SDGs and combating climate change, why China stands ready to "green up" its initiatives and investments, what analytical tools to use for monitoring sustainability of these investments.
