Climate risks in Central Asia transcend the boundaries of participating countries, through the connectivity of their land and water systems as well as their social and economic interactions (e.g., migratory flows, food and energy markets).
The key features of the climate in Central Asia are the high degree of aridity, low precipitation (in most of the region) and large temperature fluctuations between the summer and winter seasons (de Pauw, 2007). The impact of climate change across all countries of Central Asia is already evident.
